Happy New Year

http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.ca/2013/12/challenge-65.html- Use your favourite Image
http://ppp-makeitmonday.blogspot.ca/2013/12/mim-172-with-meljens-designs.html - Anything Goes

Well my last post for the old year and what better way to ring in the New Year than to have a guardian Angel Herald it in. I love this Angel stamp-One can do so much with this stamp but I decided to make it simple and embossed it with  Egyptian gold powder. I then placed it on black and gold cardstock. I have so many favourite stamps but angels  always love. I also could not help but place a picture of my tree. I love Christmas and decorated my whole house but this is my tree. I love coloured lights. I have glass blown ornaments along with egg ornaments my mom made and gifts from people and then I hang the tinsel on one strand at a time. This was how my great grandmother decorated in Germany, my Oma and my mom. It will probably die with me but not before enjoying all the times I had making it. Now I plan on making this for at least another 50 years so that will mean I will be 100:) Happy New Year everyone

A Little Spring in November

http://flutterbywednesdays.blogspot.ca/2013/11/flutter-by-wednesday-262.html - A Sketch
http://ppp-makeitmonday.blogspot.ca/2013/11/mim-168-with-cc-designs.html - Anything Goes

I can't believe I did 2 posts in one day! I had a blast!! I used the sketch from FBW and I thought I would make it spring like. I did do some Christmas cards just before, if you want to check them out:) Anyhoo-I used the cuddle bug on this nice background paper that has some sheen to it and I used the cuddlebug for the corner cut outs. I used a punch for the edge in cute hearts. I placed a glitter salmon coloured background with a shimmer lilac paper and stamped the butterfly and embossed it with psychedelic powder. Added the pearls and the ribbon. Have a great week ahead everyone!

I like doing 5 cards still for Christmas Cards All Year Round but I have been lax this year in getting to them. There have also challenges did and missed. Such is life especially this year. My first and 3rd card I bought this new type of paper that is really cool as it is shiny and that appeals to me. I also always loved the gasoline colours (you know when you look down o the pavement and the gasoline shows these beautiful colours) that is on the 3rd card. All the cards have snow on them and snowflakes. I have had to deal with a few flakes in my line of work recently so I thought this was a good idea(hahaha). I used the cuddle bug for the backgrounds and also for the punches. The 3rd card was for a challenge-it was a -shoot forgot the word-you have to do a challenge that they drew and repeat it. My brain just took a nosedive here.  The 2nd card is my Beary Challenge. I know he may not be the cutest but I think he is and I love these types of stamps. The designer of these stamps is amazing to me. I used twinkling H2O's for the background and stickles as well. I just bought my snowman and had to use him here which I glittered up of course. I cut him out as well as the holly leaves which I embossed in red and green glitter. I added the snowflakes and the saying. I actually would love to see some snow right now as it might put me in the Christmas mood. My moody angel was a for a colour challenge-black, white an grey but I missed that one too:) I used the cuddlebug for the snowflakes and coloured them in with a black glitter pen. I stamped the angel and used white glitter for her gown. So I think all show some snow and winter coming our way:)

http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.ca/2013/10/challenge-56.html -Add Some Black

I have been gone for a while. I did make some fairy cards and tried to add them to some challenges but, for some reason I couldn't. I have a gift when it comes to screwing up with computers. I had a dear friend visit me and he is going soon to Thailand until April(yes the brat) so I decided to create a dragon since I was born the year of the dragon.  I love these stamps this lady created-it is so intricate and it is hard to see the detail but I coloured this with tombow markers. I placed it on a black background with this black paper that I love and must get more. I then had it mounted on an antique gold cardstock and added the sparkle stickers around it. It has been nice getting back into my card making. Where did the summer go? I know fast and furious but much better than those bad movies. Happy Halloween to all

Fairies for Christmas

I can not believe it has been this long before I posted anything. Let's just say it has been crazy...my pain was out of control but I am on medication and I feel reborn in some ways. The chronic pain was getting to me. Our cat was sick, flying ant problems at the house, my mom is forgetting more, my brother is not in the best place right now and needs some tlc for sure, my spouse hit a main gas line (ughh) and that will cost me plenty and just life in general. Of course Christmas Cards all Year Long had a special-put fairies in one's work. I missed the deadline!! What else is new. I also saw non traditional colours for other great posts I belong to...oh well at least I made some cards.

The first card I cut out the fairy and placed her on the blue background. I used my cuddlebug to cut out the fancy snowflake design and I used an edger as well. I also used the cuddlebug for the poinsettia:) There is some sparkle added in every card. The 2nd card I did a lot of masking and made a winter scene with the fairy queen:) The 3rd I had left over card stock with some twinkling H2o's and used gold stickles to swirl around the colour. I added other cardstock and the fairy and ended it with some ribbon and crystals. the 3rd card, I stamped the holly and coloured it with some glitter pens. I cut out some leaves and added them for some 3d flare. I stamped and coloured the fairy-oh my:) The last one I made monochromatic-all in gold and used the cuddlebug to cut out the ornament and then stamped and cut out the fairy which I coloured and added some glitter dust. Well that is it in a nutshell. I hope you all enjoy it:)

http://alphabetchallengeblog.blogspot.ca/2013/07/l-for-lace.html - L is for Lace

OK so I realized, quite quickly, that I have no Sleigh which I would love to have plus no elves etc... Anyway I have Santa's carrying presents! I didn't have time to do reindeer but, maybe soon:) I missed the Vintage Christmas so the 2 Santa's come from this troupe too. The Vintage Christmas was from Christmas Cards All Year Round.  The first card I used the cuddle bug and brushed gold on it, layered the card and stamped the old world Santa on glossy white card stock. I placed a nice ribbon around and finished it off with amber crystals. I call it my Byzantine card. I think I spelt Byzantine wrong...oh well.
My second card, I thought of those  vintage cards in the colours often not used now but you see them in the old Victorian cards. I used a shimmery pinkish card stock and stamped the Santa holding a Christmas tree. I coloured it with pastel chalks and then glittered the whole Santa image with that dusting glimmer powder(never sneeze when using this). I surrounded it with lace that I used dye stamps to colour the lace and also used pearls around it for a final effect. This is purely all girl. Oh yeah-I added the punch and a button. There was a Buttons and bows challenge with lace but, true to form, missed it.
The last card is a simple card that I stamped the Christmas tree image in a dark green. I actually used a patterned paper and mounted it on the dark red paper and then the dark green. I added the button and the Merry Christmas and used stickles around the edges.  I think I will do more cards.....:) I don't know about you but I am loving this weather!!! It is not crazy hot, no a/c on and loving the beautiful day

I have been gone for quite a while eh? Not sure what happened but I shall blame life and that it takes a while to get the lap top up and going and I find it a pain in the neck so I end up not being on a computer at all when I am not working. Weird in this day and age. Well 3 cards-all birthdays. 2 are for girls and one for a man. The first 2 I coloured with prisma pencils which I love and added cardstock with some shimmer and the 2nd one, I used the cuddlebug and cut out the flower part using a glitter paper which I love.  I added stickles for some added sparkle:) The last card I used the cuddlebug for the bronze thin paper-It is like that paper used to cover the mini chocolate egss-very fine. I embossed a design in sparkle black powder on a deep red paper and added the centre part. I finished it off with some red crystals. The black paper is also shimmery:) Now I am off to Quebec-on the Richelieu river. My hubby's aunt lives right on the river. Take care and have a great week. Did I mention I am now on vacation for 2 weeks----yippee!!!!!!

http://flutterbywednesdays.blogspot.ca/2013/05/flutter-by-wednesday-241.html - Sketch

I made another card for a cutie of a gal-my friend's little girl. I used some funky colours and love the card stock which looks yellow and green depending on the light. Flutter has a sketch and I tried it out here using other card stock laying around. I coloured the fairy with gamsol pencils.  I added the butterfly with glitter of course and used this pen that makes pearl drops. Now I am off to wash my one cat who is too fat to clean herself. We adopted her and she was too heavy when we got her. Trying to get her away from the other cat's food is like trying to tell a nerd he can't watch Star Trek. (I love Star Trek).

Well I have been out of commission for a while due to illness and it is annoying. I have been looking at blogs but not partaking. Yes bummer. Still have a cough and losing voice(although I think my hubby is secretly happy about that). Now we have had great weather here in Canuck land although it is supposed to get humid and hot which I hate. The Alphabet Challenge was fun to view-they had E for emerald, F for fantasy, G for glitter and gems and now H for happy. I decided to incorporate all of these in 1 card. I used glossy green cardstock and this nice card stock in a lighter green. I stamped the dragon in emerald green and stamped the fairy in a dark green embossing powder. I coloured her in tombow markers and glittered up her wings in 2 shades of green. I added the metal round things(what would be their right name??) and placed to gems (OK not real:)) on top and added the Happy Birthday and the corners in gold stickers. I placed the butterfly up as well in glitter. This is for our niece. Her birthday has passed but we have not seen her yet so this goes to her. Glitter and sparkle has birthdays as their theme and MIM is always anything goes. Whimsy has this as well. These all are great sites!!

Best and Worst Movies Ever

http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.ca/2013/05/bestworst-movie-remakes-blogfest-ninja.html

I was really thinking about this since the great Alex promoted this event. I had some true time since I have been ill for a month which sucks big time and has prevented me from doing much on my blog. Now I was thinking about The Day The Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds, Dracula, All Quiet on the Western Front and even It's a Wonderful Life(yup a TV remake with Marlo Thomas-sucked). I decided to do 1 film that had both Best and worst because it was remade twice barring all the other rip offs inbetween. I chose King Kong! That mighty ape and no I am not talking about the Toronto mayor who just this morning is in the news apparantly having fun with a drug bong but that mighty ape who dies at the end(oops spoiler alert but then if you haven't seen it you have been living under a shoe somewhere).

The first film was made in 1933 starring the wonderfully screaming Fay Wray. I love this film and, even though I don't believe it was the intention to bring a lot of pathos for the ape, one falls under his spell and you really route for him and wish he was never taken off the island.  Now they used Kong in many other films even King Kong vs Godzille which I am proud to say I have seen but they decided to remake it in 1976 with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange. It grossed alot of money and was even up for some Oscars but this movie sucks. I am sorry but it was too campy and just plain awful in my books and beating one over the head with how bad humans are to the sweet misunderstood ape. It is weird as well that they chose the World Trade Centre and sad in some ways now to see this considering what happened but still-I wanted Jeff Bridges character to get killed to just shut him up. Thank God Jessica Lange decided to get more acting lessons.

The best remake is King Kong in 2005. I love this movie and Peter Jackson played homage to the 1933 film and still made it beautifully. The acting and special effects are great and it brings great acting including thr ape(Mr Sirkis you are amazing). I can't say more about this film-Just fab. So this is my pick. I do not have best and worst for songs because even though I have heard originals and the remakes of many I can't recall the names or the bands as I suck at that. So enjoy your day and I will too with the long weekend now looming:)

Manly Card for Manly men! I added some sparkle because many manly (so-called) men, in sports, particularily football, seem to love to slap other men's butts. I guess that is the rule of sports. In baseball, they like to give codes with their fingers between their crotches..ever notice that and then they spit out tobacco and scratch that area that should not be scratched while on national T.V. OK I veered way off topic:) Fancy paper with some sparkle. sponged white paper for leather effect and embossed design in black sparkle and added amber crystals and the "Happy Birthday" sticker. To all you manly men out there!

I can't believe it...2 posts in 1 day but my last post, my Christmas cards, I missed the boat on a lot of the posts. This is why I am a little daffy and the daffodil is perfect. I entered again with Simon Says and FBW..I hope that is OK. I have not done the 365 Day cards for a while but am glad to have been able to enter...I think I goofed on the sketch though but I hope it still works as I was going by memory:). I also incorporated a little stamp image as this card is going to our neighbour who gave us some nice daffodils. I used my cuddlebug, embossed the daffodils and coloured them with tombow markers and added the saying and butterfly.

http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.ca/2013/03/f-for-felt-or-fabric.html -Felt or Fabric

I always seem to join CCAYR at the last minute and I know it is moi procrastinating. I love the site and their challenges and this was right up my alley as it was sparkle and shine and I LOVE sparkle. I must have been a magpie in my previous life. I actually stuck to white and a light blue. There was a challenge from another site with a picture and it had those colours but I was way too late to enter in it but still love the colours so I stuck with it. I used the cuddlebug for the ornament cut out and silver stickles and a gem for the centre on the first card. The 2nd card was for the Sparkles Christmas challenge but I was a day late in entering it. One had to use 3 flowers, 2 gems and one stamp. There was another challenge to use ribbons and bows...yup missed that one to ( 52 Christmas card throwdown). I re-stamped the flower image twice and built up the flowers. The 3rd card, was from the ornament cutout and I stamped the village scene, coloured it with prismo pencils and glitter all the snow(hard to see on this pic). The 4th card-Yahoo I did not miss this one -One has to use felt or fabric-I used this sheer shimmer fabric to cover the whole card and then a big ribbon to the side. I added the "Season's Greetings" and snowflakes stickers. The last card-I used the cuddlebug and sparkled up the ornaments and added the ribbon on the top and bottom. Voila! Happy Easter. I got a beautiful card from my hubby and chocolates. Choclates are now safe and sound in my stomach...mmmmm chocolate.

Happy Easter to everyone. I actually made some easter cards. The first one Has the main colours for Flutter By Wednesday Challenge and a cute butterfly to boot with a perplexed bunny. I used alcohol inks for the yellow part in the middle and then just some colourful papers. Added some pearl drops and there ya go. The 2nd card is also for Easter. I made this one a while ago so the colours are not quite the same for Flutter by Wednesday but I just had to include this as these cards are...cute.  Craft Your Passion had a "make it cute" challenge but I was too late to place these on..Oh well.  You can see I used my cuddlebug and I even tied a yellow ribbon:) Who knew I could do that! How girly are these cards....I will soon add a couple non girly cards.

I enjoyed making this card and I used Paints, cardstock, gems and the Happy Birthday metal piece that I all covet. First, I took black glossy cardstock-my last one and, using twinkling H2O's I created the background with a number of different colours.  I took glossy gold and green cardstock for some backing and purple cardstock as well. I stamped the dragonfly image (my animal-I hope and insect counts) in gold and embossed in Egyptian Gold. I coloured the wings in green and purple twinkling H2O's and restamped the wings and coloured them again but cut them out and placed them on top of the first image for some 3D effect(see the 2nd pic:)). I used my last bit of light green ribbon to attach the metal piece and put it all together...Voila!  I hope everyone has a beautiful day and maybe it will get warmer here as the week progresses...let's hope!

Top 10 Movie Countdown

You say Movies/film and I am there. It is hard to countdown to just 10 but here is my list:

10. Sunset Boulevard-Gloria Swanson at her grand dame best and a scathing telling on silent cinema where so much in the film actually rings true. For all die hard fans that know Buster Keaton and Anna Q Nielson are playing cards and were once huge stars.

9. All About Eve-Fasten Your Seatbelts...It's Betty Davis full of sharp tongued greatness. Never forget the great George Sanders who decided to commit suicide cos he was bored.

8. Fantasia-Drugged out or not-Great artistic genius meeting up with superb music-doesn't get better than that.

7. Top Hat or any Fred Astair/Ginger Rogers Musical-I don;t give a rats ass if you are not a musical fan-These are just great-same storyline and often same character actors but the dancing and singing can never be found again. Thank god for film

6. Trains, Planes and Automobiles-OK so people may bitch that it is not artistic enough blah blah blah but what a great cast and music and I always laugh out loud at the motel scene in the morning ("those aren't pillows!")

5. Singing In The Rain- Superb satire on the silent cinema and when it transitions to sound. The story is great and actually accurate, the cast is great, dancing is great and every man just loved Cyd Charisse's legs

4. The Quiet Man-The great John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara-The irish land and tales and customs and the best damm fight scene-I'd give anything to be kicked in the ass with love the way John Wayne did to Maureen-true love  with great fun

3. the Searchers-Amazing Western! I love Western and the scene near the beginning when john Wayne sees his brother's place on fire-well his look is heart wrenching. Look for Jeffrey hunter (AKA Christopher Pike of Star Trek fame) in a key role along side the Great Duke

2. LOTR-Trilogy-OK This is so great and profound and moving-I can not say more about these group of films-Love it!

1. It's A Wonderful Life- My Fav-Jimmy Stewart-Always played at Christmas and people may be sick of it like the Mona Lisa but the beauty of this film transcends time and makes me cry each time I see it.

Well there is my list-I missed out on the Third Man and all the Hitchcock films-there are so many I love and could add and replace some here but this it is for now:)

Butterflies

It is so gloomy here that it was nice to make a couple of butterfly cards. I used the cuddlebug to cut out the butterflies for both cards. Each card has 3 papers (not including the base) placed on top of one another. Actually the first card-the top paper is not paper but fabric. I went to a Sound Of Music Sing a long and we had to hold that fabric up to Julie Andrews when she could not figure out how to get fabric for the kids playclothes..."Look behind you" we all yelled before she realized drapes will do nicely. The base colour for the first card is a light green which I used the cuddlebug to emboss. I added a ribbon and some pearls for the bling. The second card I had scraps of paper that I had tried some sponging techniques for the top paper and wrote in the saying as our neighbour lost her brother..which is quite sad so I can't do much but give this card stating that we are thinking of her. I added the extra bling at the bottom and some stickles in the butterfly too. I am amazed that I did not add more glitter to my cards as I am usually a glitter queen. How do you like that ribbon? I actually made it and was surprized it turned out! Have a great day and week ahead

I finally made Christmas cards for this year. At Christmas Cards All Year Round the challenge was Red, White, Flowers and hearts. I decided to make the hearts more subtle. I used the cuddlebug with the background of hearts in the 1st and 3rd card and the poinsettia was used for the flowers in all the cards.  I did stamp the poinsettia and used red sparkle embossing powder. The second card has some funky hearts in the corners. I cut out the poinsettia after stamping them as well. The last 2 cards are the same except one is in white and one in red and ditto for the cuddlebug poinsettia. Well I made this quick and hope you like them. have a great day

OK I am just happy to blog again and I thought I would join MIM as I love this site but I don't have the little Miss Muffet stamps so I hope this still works:) Crazy month-Michael is recuperating well from his complete shoulder replacement surgery and he is doing really well. We got slammed with a big snowstorm on Friday and rain today so i thought pretty flowers from July would work. I used the square look and used scizzors for the cut and layered it and added ribbon and crystals. I coloured the image with the gismopencils. I LOVE them:)They blend so well. Now i hope to blog more and be back in my work room soon.

I have not been here for a while as I have been a little busy. Christmas is a busy time of year anyway and  I go all out with my tree (hang the tinsel on one by one), my Christmas village(with it's own personal cat house and town bum), nativity scene and Santa's everywhere along with garland and angels etc... Mt hubby had a full shoulder replacement on December 12th-Yup 12/12/12. He had it done in Toronto. the surgerey was over 5 hrs long and he was home by Friday!! I can say he is doing very well and healing fast. I can also say I have been busy taking care of all the animals, walking the dog, caring for my Michael, Delivering flyers for extra money ( my ex helps me...yup! My EX!!) , working full time. Top it off that the first weekend Michael was home our 1 cat climbed on my dresser and knocked off all my jewlery. I could have made a violin out of her. It took me an hour to untangle everything. The next day our dog peed in the house which he did not do for almost a year. The day after that our fawcett in the bathroom busted and we had 2 inches on water in the bathroom before Michael went down stairs to shut the taps off. It just busted...all this before Christmas. I had these cards made a while ago but just no time to be on the computer. I am not a computer gal. Christmas went well and my mom was able to come to my brother's and enjoy a bit. She has since forgotten that she was at his place though. New years was quiet and let's hope the year ahead will be a better one. I have had enough of pain (moi), dementia(mom), disease(Michael-athritis) and little money. Oh wait I should grab some wine for this whine. I enjoy looking at everyone's creations though and believe that it is better to walk with an angel through hell than with the devil through paradise. I am not religious but I love that saying and believe it. To one of my followers too-McCraftys cards-I was inspired by his snowflake corner that I bought it and used it for the angel card. Happy New Year everyone!!
